Between two and three years of age, the Little Owls Room supports your child at a vital stage of their development, offering a wide range of play and learning opportunities.
Supporting each child's development
At this critical age, your child will begin to develop their growing sense of independence and belonging. Our qualified team and your child's individual keyperson will support them as they start learning to manage their feelings and form relationships with their peers.
Working alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, your child will be treated individually as their keyperson follows their development and sets next steps to support them in reaching their full potential.
Learning through play
Your child will begin to learn essentials such as colours, shapes and counting through group games and one-on-one exercises.
We believe in learning through play so your child will have open access to a wide range of activities which develop their social, mental and physical development while having fun.
From messy and creative activities to playing on bikes and cars outdoors, your child will be supported by staff to ensure that they are able to play and experiment safely.
Supporting their independence
At this age, we support each child as they develop their sense of independence. Your child will choose which activities they would like to take part in, as they enjoy free flow play both indoors and outdoors.
Many children prefer to learn outside, so they have full access to our secure outdoor area in all weathers, giving them an extensive range of activities to support all areas of their development.
Your child will be supported in learning to make their own decisions and can choose themselves what breakfast they would like or which vegetables they would like to accompany lunch.
Meet the Little Owls team
We have specialist tables and chairs for the children to sit around together in small groups, supported by their keyperson or buddy as they develop their independence by serving their own lunch and pouring their own drinks.
Sleeping arrangementsThose children who need to sleep, occupy a dedicated area on the carpet, ensuring a restful sleep away from children who are still in active play.
All children have individual sleep mats with their own personal bed linen, all provided by the nursery.
