Learning

We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life to develop to their full potential and make the most of their talents and abilities. They learn by getting hands on experience, through play and having FUN

Children are competent learners from birth and so we look carefully at their interests, stages of development and needs in order to plan an enjoyable day. They learn from activities, toys, environment and friendships they have with each other and our staff

We provide equal opportunities for all children to feel valued and they learn respect for their own and others’ cultures and beliefs.

Our staff offer the children support and guidance as children progress with their "next steps", working in partnership with yourselves as the children’s primary carers.

We take into account each child’s individual learning style and interests to ensure that they have fun and are motivated to learn and discover.

We work with the Four Themes (see below) every day to ensure that the care and learning are enjoyable across all areas of learning and development.

Four Themes
A unique child – every child learns from birth and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured

Positive relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from loving, secure relationships with parents and/or a key person

Enabling environments – the environment supports and extends a child’s development and learning

Learning and development– children learn and develop in different ways and rates and all areas are equally important

Each child has a 'development' folder which contains their personal learning journeys with photos, observations, conversations and their art work.

As the children work towards the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) they grow and develop as a whole. The EYFS is split into the following 6 areas:-

  • Personal, social & emotional development
  • Communication, language & literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning & numeracy
  • Knowledge & understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

You can look at each area in more detail by selecting from the sub menu on the left.
